Saline Area Social Service’s Ignite Program Helps Middle Schoolers Build Confidence and Manage Anxiety
Middle school can be an exciting time of growth, friendship, and discovery, but it can also bring new challenges and anxiety. Saline Area Social Service is helping local students navigate these years with Ignite, an eight-week program designed to help middle schoolers build confidence, develop life skills, and learn practical ways to manage anxiety.
We’re excited to share that 31 students have signed up for the program! This incredible response highlights the importance of providing young people with opportunities to learn, connect, and grow in a supportive environment.
Ignite takes a hands-on approach to learning by pairing fun, engaging activities with practical anxiety coping skills. Throughout the eight-week program, students will participate in classes focused on crocheting, photography, art, or self-defense. Each activity offers an opportunity to explore new interests, develop skills, and practice managing the worries and challenges that can come with growing up.
Through these experiences, students will learn that trying something new can be rewarding, mistakes are part of learning, and challenges don’t have to hold them back. They’ll also have opportunities to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and connect with peers who may be navigating similar experiences.
At Saline Area Social Service, we believe that supporting our community means investing in its youngest members, too. By creating a welcoming space where middle schoolers can learn, practice coping strategies, and discover their strengths, Ignite aims to give students tools they can carry with them long after the program ends.
With 31 students ready to participate, we’re looking forward to seeing the creativity, confidence, and connections that develop over the rest of these eight weeks.
When young people have the skills and support they need to face life’s challenges, they can do more than manage anxiety, they can thrive.
