Nearly 200 People Received Meals

Saline, MI — Saline Area Social Service (SASS) hosted an Easter meal distribution at their facility located at 1259 Industrial Drive on Sunday, March 24, 2024. The drive-through event provided a meal basket, toiletries, and holiday treats for over 190 people in Saline thanks to the support of generous donors and volunteers.

“Along with the donated food baskets and gift cards for perishable items, each family also received either a ham or roasting chicken, a dozen eggs, bread, a bag of assorted toiletries, and a bag of baking items,” said SASS Client Services Manager, Marti Healy.

With the help of the Saline community, SASS has provided holiday aid to local families, individuals, and seniors in need since 1961. Families in need and sponsors for this year’s Easter event were invited to sign up throughout February and March.

Easter Baskets for Kids

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church partnered with SASS again this year to provide Easter baskets filled with toys and candy to households with children under the age of 12.

Thank you, Emagine!

A special thank you goes out to Paul Glantz and Emagine for donating $1,250 to sponsor Easter meal baskets! The support of our community partners, like Emagine, is essential to our mission.

Wonderful Volunteers

Many hands make light work! We are so grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who support SASS during special events and throughout the year.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who helped during the Easter Distribution: Jamaine Atkins, David Bowen, John Cummings, Trent DeBruin & Family, Adam & Leslie Denlinger, Jane Haynes, Betsy Marl, Michaela Robichaud, Bob, Christy & Jackson Seeteld, and Christine Solis.

Outside of providing holiday meals, SASS is a year-round food pantry and aid organization that serves over 600 people in need. Thanks to immense community support, SASS provides weekly food assistance, helps with emergencies, such as eviction, utility shut off, and car repairs, and gives referrals to connect those in need with other aid organizations.

“The outpouring of support from our community for our neighbors in need is incredibly heartwarming,” said Healy. “The support of our donors and volunteers makes a world of difference for the families we serve.”
