Building Confidence for Students
The SASS tutoring program has had a meaningful impact on our students by providing consistent academic support, encouragement, and individualized attention in a safe and welcoming environment. Through one-on-one and small-group tutoring, students receive help with reading, math, homework, and foundational skills that support their success in the classroom.
One of the biggest impacts has been helping students build both academic skills and confidence. For example, one child began the program having a difficult time counting to 5, but by the end of the program, they were able to count to 50. Another student who was struggling in math was able to improve to grade level after about two months of consistent tutoring support. These examples show how targeted support, patience, and strong relationships can make a real difference in a student’s growth.
Beyond academics, the tutoring program gives students a place where they feel known, supported, and encouraged. Tutors are able to meet students where they are, celebrate small wins, and help them develop positive learning habits. This support not only strengthens academic skills but also helps students feel more capable and confident as learners.
Overall, the SASS tutoring program helps reduce academic gaps, supports families who may not have access to outside tutoring, and gives students the tools, encouragement, and confidence they need to continue growing.
