Thank you, Meijer & donors!
Thank you to Meijer and everyone who donated during the holiday Simply Give campaign! We are excited to share that SASS received Meijer gift cards last week to help purchase food and diapers for the pantry over the next few months.
Each Meijer Simply Give campaign replenishes the shelves of more than 250 food pantries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin. The program encourages customers to purchase $10 Simply Give donation cards in-store or as add-ons to their online Meijer pickup and home delivery orders, which are then converted into Meijer food-only gift cards and given to a local food pantry in the store’s community.
In light of increased need resulting from COVID-19, Meijer donated more than $7.6 million to Simply Give food pantry partners in 2020 and made an additional $1 million gift in March followed by Simply Give campaigns through the rest of 2021. The retailer is continuing its support in 2022 through donations from its upcoming Simply Give campaign.
“This contribution shows our commitment to hunger relief in the Midwest,” said Cathy Cooper, Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Giving for Meijer. “We appreciate the support and commitment our generous customers and team members have shown, and we want to support their continued generosity.”
