The Saline Area Social Service (SASS) Fall Fundraiser took place on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Lake Forest Golf Club. We are so grateful for our donors, our generous sponsors, and the wonderful volunteers who made the evening meaningful and memorable. “What is your why?”
This year’s event theme, “What is your why?” invited our supporters to share the reasons behind their commitment to Saline Area Social Service. It was a night of reflection, celebration, and connection, as over 100 guests gathered to support our mission to help our Saline neighbors in need.
A Night to Remember
The party included appetizers and cocktails by Lake Forest Golf Club and homemade desserts courtesy of some amazing volunteers. Our guests participated in a 50/50 raffle, engaged in spirited bidding wars during the silent and live auctions, and graciously committed to providing monthly support during the pledge auction. We are excited to share, thanks to your support, that we exceeded our goal to raise $60,000 to continue our vital work.
Celebrating Our Community
One of the highlights of the night was a presentation honoring our donors, volunteers, and the neighbors we serve. It’s these incredible people who breathe life into our mission.
Our Executive Director, Jamail Aikens, shared insights into our organization’s impact and the trends we’ve observed throughout the year. A former client bravely spoke about how SASS helped her through a challenging time. Donors and volunteers also took the microphone to share their “why” — their reasons for supporting SASS. Their stories were poignant, reminding us all that it is our strength as a community that makes our work possible.
