Clients may access the food pantry weekly, taking the amount of food that they think they will reasonably use in a week.

Diapers

We distribute one package of diapers per child every week.

Monthly Distribution

Each month we distribute one special item (eg. Laundry soap, dish soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc.) One item per household.

Rent (including lot rent)

Up to $200 in a 12 month period, in emergency situations only.

DTE Energy

Utility must be in client’s name.  Client must be on a budget plan or payment protection plan or have a shut-off notice. In shut-off situation, client must go to Department of Human Services first and get verification of what DHS will pay. SASS can assist with up to $225 in a 12 month period.

Glasses

If new glasses are necessary to improve vision, we refer to the Lions Club. Lions Club determines what they will contribute and we assist with the balance.

Prescriptions 

Client enrolls in the Washtenaw County Prescription Plan, Medicaid, Medicare Part D, or a private insurance carrier. We can assist with co-pays for prescriptions filled at participating pharmacies.  (CVS, Jensen’s Community Pharmacy, and Saline Pharmacy)

Musical Expenses

We have a special fund for music related expenses for school aged children such as instruments, lessons, uniforms, etc.

Birthday gifts

We have gifts available for all children under the age of 12. Often we also have gifts for children aged 13-18.
